Why Disco discounts appear, then disappear later
If your Disco discount appears correctly at first but disappears a few minutes or hours later, another app is usually updating the same product prices after Disco has applied the discount.
Disco discounts work by updating the product’s sale price and compare-at price in Shopify. If another app later syncs or rewrites those same price fields, Shopify keeps the latest update. This means the Disco discount may be overwritten and the product can return to its original price.
Follow the steps below to find the conflicting app and prevent the issue from happening again.
1. Confirm the issue
This article applies when:
- The Disco discount appears correctly at first.
- The product price changes back later.
- The issue happens minutes or hours after the discount was applied.
- The same product may be affected again after each sync or update.
If the discount never appears at all, the cause may be different.
2. Why this happens
Most of the time, this happens because another app is also managing your product prices.
For example, Disco may apply a discount at 10:00. Then, at 10:30, another app syncs your products and updates the same product’s price or compare-at price. Since that update happens after Disco, Shopify saves the newer values.
In simple terms:
The last app to update the product price wins.
When another app writes over the price after Disco, the Disco discount can disappear.
3. Apps to check first
Start by reviewing apps that update products, variants, prices, or inventory.
Common examples include:
- ERP or inventory sync apps
- Product feed apps
- Marketplace sync apps
- Supplier or dropshipping apps
- Print-on-demand apps
- Dynamic pricing apps
- Currency or market pricing apps
- CSV import or bulk product editing tools
- Apps that sync sale prices or compare-at prices
Look inside each app’s settings for options related to price syncing, product syncing, scheduled updates, sale prices, or compare-at prices.
4. How to fix the conflict
Once you find the app that is updating prices, use one of the options below.
Option 1: Turn off price syncing in the other app
If the other app allows it, disable syncing for product prices, sale prices, or compare-at prices.
This lets the app continue syncing other product data without overwriting Disco discounts.
Option 2: Exclude discounted products from the other app
Some apps let you exclude specific products, collections, vendors, tags, or SKUs from syncing.
You can use this to prevent the other app from changing products that are currently discounted by Disco.
Option 3: Change the sync schedule
If the other app runs on a schedule, set it to sync before your Disco discounts are applied.
The goal is to make Disco the final price update.
For example:
- Inventory app syncs at 9:00.
- Disco discount starts at 10:00.
- No other app updates prices afterward.
Option 4: Pause the other app temporarily
If you are running a short promotion, you may want to pause the other app’s price updates until the promotion ends.
Only do this if it is safe for your store operations.
5. Reapply your Disco discount
After you fix the conflict, reapply the Disco discount so the correct prices are written again.
You can do this by deactivating and reactivating the discount.
Important: Deactivating a Disco discount restores products to the prices saved before the discount was first applied. Any manual price changes made while the discount was active are overwritten.
Before reapplying the discount, make sure no other app is about to update the same products again.
6. Monitor the products
After reapplying the discount, check the affected products again over the next few hours.
If the prices stay discounted, the conflict was likely resolved.
If the prices change back again, another app or scheduled sync is still updating those products.
7. Contact support
If you are still not sure which app is overwriting the prices, contact our support team and send us:
- The product URL
- The approximate time the discount disappeared
- A list of apps that sync products, inventory, feeds, or prices
With this information, we can help you investigate what may be updating the product after Disco applies the discount.
